L'inter-chambres de commerce Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Emilie Chrétien Castonguay to the position of affiliate member of the Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine Regional Chamber on the Board of Directors of the Fédération des Chambres de commerce du Québec (FCCQ). Ms. Chrétien Castonguay, who is based in Gaspé, is currently First Vice President of the La Côte-de-Gaspé Chamber, and is Sales Director for international e-commerce pioneer South Shore Furniture, as well as being a self-employed e-commerce consultant.

At the Annual General Meeting on November 15, 2023, FCCQ members elected a new President and made new appointments to the Board of Directors. Robert Dumas, President and CEO of Sun Life Québec, becomes Chairman of the Board, and Julie Cusson, Senior Vice President, Boralex, becomes Senior Vice President.

In anticipation of the FCCQ's Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on November 15, affiliated members were invited to submit resolutions that will constitute the action policies of the Fédération des Chambres de commerce du Québec in 2023-2024.

In this context, the five (5) Chambers of Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine (GÎM) joined forces and prioritized regional issues so that the FCCQ could take action on behalf of the members of the GÎM regional Chamber.

Here are the subjects that were tabled: support for early childhood centers (CPE) and coordinating offices (BC), promotion of alternative and collective housing for employees by employers, issues concerning the financing of recreational tourism in the region, regional air transport and the re-establishment of the Gaspesian rail system, the development of aboriginal businesses, a watch on political actions taken concerning marine fisheries, including the health of the seaweed industry, and the issue of increasing wind power transmission lines in the Gaspesie.

Ms. Chrétien Castonguay will be able to represent these issues if need be, and also participate with this prestigious national board of directors in advancing the interests and actions of the business communities of Quebec's 114 chambers of commerce, along with several sector leaders.
