Quebec abandons the star system. Companies must remove their Stars signs or face stiff fines.
The Association hôtellerie du Québec would like to remind you of the very important changes to the law concerning tourist accommodation, effective September 1, 2022.
As of September 1, 2022, the compulsory classification system and its star sign will be abolished, and the classification and principal residence certificates will be replaced by an annual registration and declaration of the accommodation and services offered.
Your sign may remain in place until August 31, 2023.

Tourisme Gaspésie made representations to the Ministry of Tourism and the Alliance de l'industrie touristique, and unfortunately several businesses from all regions of Quebec (nearly sixty) received significant statements of offence for various reasons relating to the registration numbers to be entered on the publication of photos or concerning signs.
In our Côte-de-Gaspé region, at least 5 companies have received fines from Revenu Québec. The Chamber condemns this zeal, which does nothing concrete for the development of the industry.
